Bioware did a great job by having actual actors for the voices.  The Illusive Man is Martin Sheen, Joker is Seth Green.  Michael Hogan who played Colonel Tigh in Battlestar is in it as well, as well as Tricia Helfer (Number 6) from BattleStar as well. Claudia Black from StarGate SG1 and she also did the voice of  Morrigan from dragon age….  There are so many good voice actors in Mass Effect 2… Any on with the game.

You start off on the Normandy as it is getting attacked. Everyone is abandoning  ship, but Joker will not leave the ship, so you off to force him in to an escape pod. You get him in to a pod and before you can get in the ship is pretty much destroyed and you burn up… The end… short game
Which would really sucks, but turns out Miranda women from the start of the game has gotten your chard remains and has re-engineered you. And your alive again!!!

Though as i am starting to tier 2 mission i’ve noticed there has been some new types of quest being thrown in as well, so it not always doing the same thing over and over.

After i finished the mission i head back to earth and while i was looking at the change instance tab i noticed one of the instances said 40 people + 1 friend.  And it was Tipa. We grouped up and headed to the Xarantine Sector which is in the Pi Canis Sector Block, and completed Patrol Xarantine Sector episode. I took pictures but forgot to moved them over to my mac.

Yesterday i managed to get to level 11. At level 11 you ding from Lieutenant to Lieutenant Commander. It doesn’t happen right away though, you need to use all your skill point to get to Lieutenant Commander or you’ll be left at Lieutenant grade 11.

Once your officially a Lieutenant Commander, head to earth dock and to the admiral. He will congratulate you tell you to go to the shipyard. (Which if your facing the admiral door it off to the left, on the second floor, not the first, (which i spent 10 minutes wonder where the npc is)).

In this room is information on the 5 tiers of ship, and some special upgrade, (some that you can buy others you can’t yet). After talking to the lady look at her store and you can buy your ship for 1 credit (yes just one). No matter what ground class you pick you can pick any ship class. I went with the science vessel.  (i don’t know if you can buy all 3 ships for 1 credit or if it just the first one). If you beam back up to your ship now you’ll be in your old one.

You need to go back downstairs to the ship customization dudes, and make your new ship the main ship. And then move all your weapons and upgrade from the old ship to the new one. (the new one has just standard stuff in it). Also while your at the ship yard you can customize your ship if you want to give it a different look than the default, and buy some upgrades if you need them. Also make sure you get some more officers. The new ships has 4 Bridge officer and 2 extra officers slots.

Last thing one of your officer can be promoted to Lieutenant. I do not know how to do this so i gave up and drove around in my new ship and called it a night.

I find it hard to believe that for the last 10 minutes I’ve been 171 in the queue. That none of the people in front of me have either raged quit, or dropped out of the queue. That no one in front of me has gotten in to the game. That just seem wrong.

On top of that i’ve logged out of the game, and back in. The number of people in the queue appears to randomly change to some random number (349, 1012, 238). Which means either there in 1000 people every time i log in and out (but not when i sit there and wait) Or there just giving you random number to shut you up….

Game wise i think Star Trek is actually pretty good, it just the server issues that going to kill the game.

While a lot of the thing that annoyed me in beta seem to be fixed there are still rather annoying problems with Star Trek right now that should of been fixed in beta.

Lag in instances. I don’t remember Beta being this laggy. I am tired of going in to an instance starting to fight and everyone freeze for a second. it gets really annoying.

The Server is down… We are not in beta any more… and less than 24hour after the early start launches… the server is down and its been down for more 3 hours. With no eta when it will come back up…. a game who servers are down more than 1% of the time will fail as people will get frustrated that they are paying for something that isn’t stable. Star Trek you currently getting close to 10% total down time…..

Currently i feel Star Trek online will end up following the path of Aion. A game with a lot of hype that starts off fun to play, but after a week or 2 you get to the point were the game loses it funness and you just don’t want to play it anymore and quit. (IE the 1 month mass exodus).

If any one else is starting Star Trek today let me know and i’ll add you to my friends list (when i get home from work).

The PC has slightly better graphics, but with a high end gaming rig you can have a larger screen resolution.
Targeting is also easier on the PC, and the overall interface is easier/faster to use.

But i went ahead and bought the Xbox version. Why? Theres really 2 reasons.
Star Trek Online come out this week and i’ll be playing that on my computer over the next few months. And i don’t want all my gaming time to be sitting in front of a computer. It is not as conformable or relaxing as sitting in front of a large tv in a conformable chair.
I just got my xbox a month ago, and i want to get my moneys worth buying it. And if i bought all my games for the PC then what was the point in buying the Xbox.

So even  though PC is overall better for Mass Effect 2 i got the Xbox version.

2. Science  — Healers and Buffers
   1. Researcher — Group Buffer
   2. Scientist — Single Target Buffs, and Single debuffs
   3. Medic — Healer
3. Tactical — DPS and Tank Classes — these classes have the most hit points.
   1. Soldier — Highest DPS in the game, Direct damage
   2. Security — Tank class
   3. Special Operations — Stealth attacks.

On top of that no mater what class you pick above, you can fly any class of ship. If you pick a Tactical as you profession, you can fly a science vessel if you wish. Everyone flys the same ship until level 11. (i thought it was 10, but when i got to 10 in beta i didn’t get a new ship and found out it is 11).

1. Escort — Fast moving, Heavily Armored, Low power (slow regen rate for shields) — This ship would be good for DPS
2. Cruiser — Slow moving, Heavily Armored, high power (fast regen rate for shields) — This ship is kind of like a tank ship
3. Science Vessel — Buffs, debuff, and heal. This ship has the largest sheilds of all ships.

So picking what class and ship combination i want to play is hard. I am thinking Soldier + science Vessel, or Medic + Science Vessel, or Solider + Escort… Since we get 2 slots i guess i should do Medic + science Vessel and Solider + Escort. I’ll probably level the medic first.
