For the low low low price of 10 bucks. 10,000 pennies you can buy an in game pet in WoW.
There are 2 pets a Pandaren Monk and Lil K’T pet. If you buy the Pandaren pet 5 bucks will go to the make a wish foundation (which is pretty cool). The pet doesn’t do anything, (can’t help in combat), it is just cosmetic.
10 bucks for a freaking pet???? A pet that follow your around and does nothing….
When did microtransaction become macrotransaction? I am perfectly find with Microtransaction, but the big MMO companies apperntly don’t under stand the definition of micro. This is Wikipedia definition of micro
- Micro is an English prefix of Greek origin that is most commonly known for its usage in the word microscopic, the prefix refers to an object as being smaller than scale of focus, in contrast with macro. Some examples of the prefix “micro” are microwave, microphone, microchip and micro-organism.
What Blizard and SoE are doing are Macrotransacations
There large payment, that just make you look greedy.

really, upset about this and why? Why does this surprise you? How is this different than the crap people pay for on the Sony Station? Like…FURNITURE???
Does furniture do anything other than sit there for in game roleplaying nerds?
These transactions are popping up in all games, better get used to it. It is the wave of the future as people move away from monthly subs like DDO did.
I don’t like Sony thing either, because there not really microtransaction there pretty large. 10 bucks a month for a pet, that does nothing kind of expensive.
2 or 3 dollars i wouldn’t have a problem with.
But my worry here is that these games will start adding zones and quest that you have to pay to have access to, while still paying a monthly fee.
SoE is already on that path. They added a zone you can only get from a loot card in LDoN.

I agree with Orgebear.
I play EQ2 because I can play online with good people and the monthly fee is cheaper then one night of going out. I don’t want to be nickled and dimed with all this stuff. The stuff is nice and sometimes I’m temped but I have yet to use any “Station Cash”.
What really pissed me off was the new racial change item you can buy. SOE comes in, changes all the racial traits that you considered when making your character all those years ago and has the nerve to say “If you don’t like your changes, Pay $25 to pick another race”. Some people have lost abilities that were the entire reason you picked that race to begin with.
If SOE continues in this direction, I may have to look into other games because I am finding myself more and more unhappy with them everyday.
