When you wake up from the Harrowing you, your friend Jowan want to talk to you in private. He show you his new girl friend. And they tell you that Jowan is going to be made in to a Tranquil (they take away his magic and everything, kind of like a lobotomy) . He want you to destroy the vile of blood they have of him in the Repository, to do this you need to get a Rod of Fire.

To get the rod of Fire you have to complete a side quest for another mage who want you to kill all the spiders in the storage room. Be careful in this mini dungeon i found that if you get 2 spiders at the same time, they can pretty much kill you before you can kill them.
After you get the Rod of Fire, you Jowan and his GF will attempt to break in to the Repository, and you’ll fine out that the Rod of Fire will not work on the door. You will have to go around the long way, (and collect a good amount of XP while you are at it).
There is a pretty good staff that you can pick up when you get close to Repository (but it will be taken away). You get to the Repository and destroy his blood vile. And life is good and you three walk out of the basement.
To find the heads of the tower waiting for you… At which point you find out Jowan is a blood mage (which is an evil bad thing). His GF didn’t know and doesn’t want anything to do with him. And he flees the Circle Tower. Her GF is put in jail, and you join the Grey Wardens
