Kendricke over at Clockwork Gamer has linked to a post over on Massively.com stating that there will be no epics on the launch of Rise of Kunark. I am fine with Epics not coming out straight off the bat, but if they take more than 2 live update (essentially 2 months), I will start to go ape shit.

My hope is that The developers who are working on the epic decided to make them in parts. For instance if I was developing epics I would have broken each epic in to 3 parts. (Group part 1, group part 2, Epic part). Requiring part 1 to be done before moving to part 2. That way if i knew all parts were not going to be done, I could releases the part that is done, and space the other ones out every update or so (kind of like SoD). This way people don’t start to freak out as much.
Guild in Raid
Grimwell posted on his own blog about how raid guild can get in to beta as a whole raid guild. Which has some pretty good information (even if your not a raider) on how to act in beta, and on the fourms in general if you want to give the developers feedback
Flying mount!!
MMOG nation has a talk with Scott Hartsman. There a lot of good information in that post. For instance he talks about the flying mounts called Sokakar in this post near the end, so it defiantly a most read
For instance, in the first higher-level zone of the expansion one of the first things you do is a quest series concerning these flying mounts. The native flying mounts for this expansion are called the Sokakar (M: sp?). The Sokakar is this really cool frog-like bat-winged beast. People think these are the coolest thing ever. There’s a quest where you’re rescuing this outpost’s more reliable flying mount, and you get to ride on a Sokakar, and eventually you get a Sokakar pet.

The flying mount sounds very much to me like a new vesion of the griffin. No bad thing, but if that’s right (and I have no idea whether I am or not) the term “flying mount” sounds a bit misleading.
I’m 95% sure the “flying mounts” are just the new version of the griffons not true mounts ala WOW. Surely SOE realizes how important the epics are to the players so I’d expect them to be in game shortly after launch – probably before people get to 80 (which won’t be much longer than a week or two.)
they are the dumb version of a griffon, and it’s not that “cool” and the fact they used the EQ1 iksar BL pet as a tagalong pet is kinda stupid too IMHO. But out of the two things I dont like their are a million that I do.

I dont mind if they wait 2 or 3 months personnly or a tad longer. Yes if they take alot longer then it will be an uproar. Though, if they push them all out 2 weeks after expansion for the **SLIGHT** margin that anyone will even be close to being complete; they will make it a “Less then epic EPIC”. I really think it wont be till around Dec time frame before we even get to see the ledgendary versions. But, That is if they live up to the name EPIC. I am venturing to guess it will be around spring when alot will start to complete the epics.
