I have my level 70 Guardian, my level 60 assassin and my level 70 Provisioner. So last week i decided to make 3 alts. One from Freeport (An Ogre Coercer). One from Qeynos (A Kerran Fury). One from Kelethin (a Fay Dirge)
The Freeport Tier 1 Experience.
So first… an Ogre Coercer, I know, i know, some of you are thinking WTF are you smoking. Well i made her a Ogre as, i’ve only see 1 or 2 female ogre character running around, and on top of that there are very very very very very few ogre mages.. SO i made an ogre mage.
The newbie experience in Freeport, start off in the Freeport newbie island. I love the Freeport island over the Qeynos one, it just a better experience i think, (even though there both rather similar).
Once you enter the city of Freeport it changes. Freeports quest lines are jumpy. One quest your killing blue that are very easy, the next has you killing yellow, and you have to go do something else cause there no way you can do it for another few levels. There also seem to be a lot less quest in the 1-10 range, compared to the other cities. Your not going to run out of quests, but you’ll get to a point where most of your quest are white, yellow and a few blues (unlike the other newbie cities).
In the end i liked it. It might of been “harder” then the other 2 since Coercer are a harder class to play than fury and dirge.
The Qeynos Tier 1 Experience.
So i chose a Kerra cause cat look cool, they stand out more than most of the humanoid looking characters. You know Barabian, human, half-elf…. can’t allays visually tell them apart.
So the Qeynos newbie island. The quest felt similar to the Freeport island, so wasn’t as great to me. There is a difference between the Freeport and the Qeynos newbie island though, i was able to get an extra level and 1/2 on the Qeynos island before i ran out of quest. I didn’t grind i just did the quests. I’m not sure if that mean there where more quest on the Qeynos island, or if the Qeynos island gives more xp.
In Qeynos there seemed to be more quest to do. I have been to the six sub cities and picked up all the quest there and went to each of the 3 tire 1 zones (haven’t done caves yet). And i’d have 4 or 5 quest for each zone. They where easy and i was getting lot of experience.
I really enjoyed the qeynos experience once off the island more than freeport, because i’d have more things i could do in one zone rather than having to zone to different dungeon every 1 or 2 quest because the quest where to high of level for me to complete.
It took me 2 hours, and 40 min to reach level 10.
The Kelethin tier 1 Experience
This was the best newbie experience i had. There where TONS of quests. Your not going to run out of things to do. On top of that since there are so many quest you get gear. A problem in Qeynos and Freeport is at level 10 about 1/2 my slots are empty. In Kelethin only 4 slots where not filled by the time i got to 10.
Kelethin is also great since you don’t have to zone. The other 2 there the newbie island the 6 sub city zones, the 4 city zones, the 4 dungeon.. and you got to zone here you got to zone there.
Experience wise the mobs seemed to give more EXP than in Qeynos or Freeport, the quest seemed to give less, which i don’t mind since the mobs your killing are giving you way way way more xp than in qeynos or freeport it felt like.
Also it felt like every other mob was dropping a chest, unless you put some bags in the shard bank slot, you’d be run back to the bank or the broker every 10 mins to unload your bags (kinda remind me of tricker treating, you know 1/2 the houses gave you candy 1/2 didn’t).
it took me 2 hours and 10 mins to each 10
In the end Kelethin OWNED, If your starting a new character and you can have them start in Kelethin DO IT. You’ll level faster, you’ll have more loot, you’ll have more money form the loot you sell. And that not a bad thing.
In a week or 2 i’ll post my Qeynos/Freeport/Kelethin tier 2 post for each charater, not sure what will happen after that, normally around tier 3 is where you start going to the other contents and they’d start to do the same content. (Maybe after that i’ll talk about the difference is soloing and grouping between the fury, coercer and drige, since there very different classes)
