I believe that there will be a free adventure pack this summer.
So far the hints are in the game.
In Nek Forest MMoquests blog shows a new area against the east wall of the zone.
In the Commonlands as i pointed out in the eq2-daily forms, That there activity in the north of the Commonlands. They are digging a tunnel to the north.

And finally there was the eq2 newletter that almost pretty much stated there was a free adventure pack coming
Where We Are Going
All of this is just a precursor to some amazing new content and features coming to EverQuest II. The dev team is working hard this year to provide free content with the Game Updates, on the scale of which has normally been reserved for paid content additions. As EverQuest II progresses into its third year of life, it is definitely on a path to show people that they haven’t seen anything yet.
My guess is a free adventure pack coming in either the next live update or the one after it. (My guess it is not the next one but the one after), The next one i’m expecting the competition of the SoD quest line, and it will be a light update. With the Free adventure pack coming in June.
I can’t confirm an free adventure pack, but everything i’ve seen point to it.
