Miragul’s Phylactery: The Crucible

This is the hardest of the 3 Everforst zones. First off if your not carful getting out of the room you’ll have 2 tripple ups on you, and will probably quickly wipe. Once you kill thouse 2 your will be in the main room with 2 halls. You can go down either of the 2 halls you want.

We went to the left. Clear the left room and you will get a Shard that you need to put on one of the 2 pillars in the room that you started. Once you get both shards one from each hall you can unlock the next level).

I believe when you open both area a name spawn in the center of the room (picture below). But i can’t remember. But the first level isn’t to hard so you should figure it out.

Once you have unlocked the second level there will be a room on the left and right again Both have names.

On the left side group together. You can only get these names down to 50 percent, you can not kill them, what you need to do i get them on stand on there colored platform and they will turn in to NPC that are locked there.  At this point The Master will spawn and spend the next 5 mintues (felt like months) talking about each name, before killing them. Eventually he will be attack able and you can kill him. If i remeber right he has a lot of HP. We did kill him on our first try, but it was a long fight and a few time we almost wiped. He is a Necromancer and has necromancer type of spells.

On the right side of the second level room is 4 stand, and 4 move able objects (a tree, a person, a shiny object and a fish). You need to put each on it right stand. When you do this a picture will appear on the wall behind it. Once all 4 are placed a small mob spawn kill it spawns Xorlac the Cleanser. He also has a lot of HP, we killed him on the first time and i didn’t notice anything special about him other than we almost died a few time.

Once hes dead and you place his stone and The master stone on the stand in the room and a stair case will come out of the ground The first time you see this stair case being formed it is pretty cool. Probabaly one of the best animation in eq2.

At the top of the case you will meet Miragul him self and he will send his level 85 monster The Codexicon after you. And this mob is hard so hard we couldn’t kill it. The mob it self though isn’t the problrem. The problem is every 20 % unless you can stop it the mob will spawn 4 books. There are 2 tourches in this room that you can use to destory the books. You have 5 second to destory all 4 books (it a 2 second cast). So the 2 people destorying books have very little room for error. If you fail to kill the books, the name does an AOE that pretty much an instant death for the group. If you do kill the books in time some adds spawn that are not part of the encounter, (there easy). Destorying the books in time though is hard and we gave up.

One thing we found out if you pull the name to a wall the book will still spawn in the center circle area. By doing this it easier to see the book than having the mob there and other players.

  • We’ve ran the Crucible several times now. His spawning of books/pages that need to be burned appears to be random. We’ve had him do it 5 times during a fight, once during a fight, and the last time we killed him he didn’t spawn any pages/books the entire fight and it was a rather boring tank and spank fight.

Overall though the Crucible is one of my favorites along with the Abbey. Great visual on the spiral staircase and the 3 mage fight was fun as hell figuring out for the very first time.
