How do you guys find time to play games and blog???

How do you guys find time to play games and blog??? Seriously now that I’m working 40 hours a week it feel like i only have 4 or 5 hours of free time a day. My normal day looks like this

6AM — Wake up, shower.

6:40Am — leave house for light rail

7:05AM — Take light rail to NetApp

7:30AM — clock in

~4:00-4:25 — Clock out

435-4:50: — Light rail to Mountain View

5:00 – 5:20 — Caltrain to Palo Alto

5:29-6:10 — Bus home

6:10-640 — Dinner

Then Pretty much 7-11 is my free time. (and i try to go to bed at 11).

So if i had a car the 3 hours of travel time would be 20 minutes (and i would gain 2 and 1/2 more hours of free time). But that roughly 4 hours of free time. I have so much i want to do in those 4 hours.

(Play WoW, Read, Wii (i have 15 games some that have less than 20 mins worth of play time), Chat with my friends online, Catch up on the TV i watch, blog, Work out). It just seem like there is not enough time in the day to do everything i want and so.

Blogging, exercise and my Wii (and kind of WoW) have been neglected. How do you guys manager your time better?

  • It’s a challenge to be sure. It’s a case of juggling the various parts of my life, and as a consequence some days that I blog, I don’t play, and some days that I play, I don’t blog.

I’ve found a few workarounds. I’ve written posts during my lunchtimes at work. I’ve also written unbidden thoughts and notes onto post-it notes, and occassionally emailed myself at home with a more developed idea.

Things have got better over time. When I first started, it could take me over an hour to write a post, a couple of hours for a long one. Now, it takes me 15 min to half an hour for a normal sized post. Though something big and complex can still take a couple of hours.

The practice of blogging has helped me organise my thoughts much more efficiently than I used to. I find that writing documents at work has improved too.

As with anything, the more you practice, the better you get.

Heh. I don’t even live where my computer is. And I *wish* I had 4-5 hours of free time per day.

I do have Fridays off, though, so I do get about 6-7 hours that day to play EVE and/or EQ2. But that’s really it for me anymore.
